Today(July 17th, 2025) marks 20 years
since the passing of Akechi Denki-sensei.
明智伝鬼先生が亡くなられてから、
本日(2025年7月17日)で20年を迎えました。
These days, it seems that most people naturally don’t know much about him anymore.
On this occasion, we wanted to offer an opportunity to revisit and reflect on who he was.
we've translated and compiled content from the 2005 memorial feature in S&M Sniper (Oct–Nov issue), including interviews and messages contributed by those who knew him—tracing his path and personality through their words.
最近では、当然のように明智伝鬼先生の存在をご存知ない方がほとんどのように感じます。
この節目にあたり、先生のことをあらためて知っていただく機会になればと思い、2005年に発行された雑誌『S&Mスナイパー』10・11月号の追悼特集から、インタビューや皆さまから寄せられたメッセージなど、先生の軌跡や人となりを振り返る内容を翻訳しまとめました。

Hello, How did your relationship with Akechi Denki begin? What was it like to learn from him?
こんにちは。明智伝鬼さんとの関係はどのように始まったのですか？彼から学ぶのはどんな感じでしたか？
They met through a producer-like figure, Izumiya-san, who was also a mutual acquaintance and brought Sensei to the bar Kanna used to run.
That visit changed the course of their life.
神凪が明智先生と出会ったのは、プロデューサーのような存在であり、共通の知人でもあった泉屋さんが、先生を当時神凪が経営していたバーに連れてきてくれたのがきっかけでした。
その訪問が、神凪の人生を大きく変えることになります。
Later, Kanna went to see one of his shows—and it was a life-changing shock.
The impact was immediate and intense.
That’s when Kanna decided to follow the path of a nawashi like Sensei.
その後、明智先生のショーを観に行き、文字通り「人生を変える衝撃」を受けました。
その時に、「先生のような縄師になりたい」と心に決めたのです。
They only had 3 hours of direct lesson with him, but in that short time, all their questions, doubts, and wonders were suddenly resolved. It opened their eyes.
直接レッスンを受けたのは、わずか3時間だけでしたが、その短い時間の中で、それまで抱えていた疑問や迷い、驚きや感動のすべてが詰まっていて、目の前が一気に開けていきました。
During the five years between meeting him and his passing, Kanna attended as many of his shows as possible to observe and learn.
Beyond rope technique, Kanna learned from his stage presence, his everyday demeanor, and his thoughtful way of interacting with models behind the scenes.
How he acted, how he cared—both on stage and off—taught Kanna what it means to be not only a nawashi, but a human being.
(Much of that learning, however, only became clear after Sensei had passed away.)
Even now, they continue to learn from the photos, videos, words, and presence he left behind.
出会ってから先生が亡くなられるまでの約5年間、できる限り先生のショーを観に行き、学ばせていただきました。
縄の技術だけでなく、ステージでの所作や日常の立ち居振る舞い、そして舞台裏でのモデルへの心遣いや丁寧な接し方からも、縄師として、人としてどうあるべきかを学びました。(といっても学びに気づけたのは、先生が亡くなってからです。)
そして今もなお、先生が遺してくれた写真や映像、言葉や存在そのものから、多くを学び続けています。
Akechi-sensei was always calm and gentle—even when teaching.
He only transformed when tying someone in seme-nawa.
明智先生は、縄を教えるときも、普段と同じように穏やかで優しい方でした。
ただし、責め縄に入った瞬間だけは、豹変するのです。

Thanks to the pioneers of the kinbaku and SM scene at the time, we are now able to enjoy SM shows and rope as part of our everyday culture.
And thanks to the techniques and knowledge passed down by those who came before us, we now live in a time where more and more people can experience and appreciate the beauty of kinbaku in many different forms and on a deeper level.
当時の緊縛界やSM界を支えてくださった先人の皆さまのおかげで、
今、私たちはこうしてSMショーや緊縛を当たり前のように楽しむことができています。
また、先代の方々が遺してくださった技術と知識によって、
より多くの人が緊縛の世界に触れ、
緊縛の魅力を多様な形で深く味わえる時代になりました。
We hope this can serve as a small reminder of that legacy, and that a quiet but steady sense of gratitude continues to grow and be shared.
