Official Statement Regarding the Succession of “Akechi Denki II”｜「二代目明智伝鬼」襲名についてのご報告

Today, on the anniversary of the passing of Akechi Denki-sensei, we would like to make the following announcement.

本日、明智伝鬼先生の命日にあたり、ご報告申し上げます。

After careful consideration, Akechi Kanna has decided to respectfully decline the proposal to succeed the name “Akechi Denki II” (“Nidaime Akechi Denki” Second Generation Akechi Denki.)

このたび、明智神凪が「二代目明智伝鬼」襲名のお話をいただいておりました件につきまして、本人の熟慮の結果、本件を辞退する意思を表明いたしました。

Being considered for such an honor is something for which we are deeply grateful, and we sincerely appreciate the trust and kindness shown by everyone involved.

このようなお話をいただけたことは、大変光栄であり、関係者の皆様のご厚意に深く感謝しております。

After long and thoughtful reflection, Akechi Kanna came to the conclusion that the name Akechi Denki should remain a name that represents the late Akechi Denki himself.

Rather than inheriting that name as its second successor, Akechi Kanna has chosen to continue walking their own path while carrying forward the philosophy, techniques, and way of life passed down by their master, and to preserve and share his legacy for future generations.

一方で、本人は「明智伝鬼」という名は今なお師・明智伝鬼先生そのものを表す特別な名前であるとの考えから、二代目としてその名を継承するのではなく、「明智神凪」として先生の思想・技術・生き方を受け継ぎ、その功績を後世へ伝えていく道を選択いたしました。

This decision was reached only after an extended period of sincere reflection.

To everyone who supported the possibility of this succession and placed their hopes in it, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and our sincere apologies for not being able to fulfill those expectations.

この決断は、長期間にわたり熟慮を重ねた末に至ったものであり、ご期待をお寄せくださった皆様には心より感謝申し上げますとともに、その思いに応えられなかったことにつきましては、深くお詫び申し上げます。

Going forward, we will continue to honor the principles of the Akechi-ryu and remain dedicated to preserving and passing on the culture, techniques, philosophy, and legacy left behind by Akechi Denki-sensei.

今後も明智流の理念を尊重し、明智伝鬼先生が遺された文化・技術・思想を伝え続け、その名と功績を後世へ残していけるよう努めてまいります。
